This event explores how community-driven initiatives and collaborative regional efforts are driving environmental progress across diverse contexts.
Speakers:
- Dr. M. Alif Sahide, Professor, Department of Forestry, Universitas Hasanuddin
He actively engages on forest education and networking in Southeast Asia, and is part of national policy committees and works across Southeast Asia. His research focuses on critical perspectives of international regimes, land use policy, commons and commoning, political ecology, community forestry, institutions, and bureaucratic politics in Indonesia.
- Dr. Yingshan Lau, Research Fellow, Asia Research Institute,
National University of Singapore
She has a PhD in Geography from the National University of Singapore. She is a geographer, socio-hydrologist and environmentalist curious about human-nature relations. Her PhD fieldwork adopted a participatory action research approach to examine the traditional/local practices that are environmentally beneficial for the watershed area of the Kuang Si Waterfall in Luang Prabang, Laos.
- Mr. Enrique A. Nuñez, Jr., Senior Advisor, International Land Coalition
He is a seasoned leader and environmental strategist with over 25 years of experience advancing conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable development. He has successfully led initiatives integrating biodiversity conservation, climate action, and community resilience—bridging science, policy, and practice to drive transformative impact.

His research and teaching focus on the relationship between people, natural resources, and coastal environments, especially, resource management and planning on aquaculture and agricultural land use.
